Carving Pumpkins with Friends

Sunday we bought pumpkins and got together with friends to carve them!

We congregated at Lyndsie and David's house and ate homemade enchiladas. Mine were cheese just for me. So good. We also consumed homemade "cider" made of apple juice and cinnamon whiskey.

Kasi, Zach, and Kyle intently discussing something - probably Ogre stuff. It was the day after we met Ogre for the billionth time again, so we were still riding that high.

Kyle replicating a childhood photo where he is afraid and grossed out by the insides of the pumpkin.

Gutting my pumpkin.

Zach is super excited about pumpkins. Also Lyndsie and David have four dogs wandering around and showing up in photos.

Cider, pumpkin guts, and good company.
My finished Skinny Puppy logo pumpkin. I scraped it out of the skin, but didn't go all the way through.

My Skinny Puppy pumpkin, Zach's ghost, Lyndsie's disco ball, and Kyle's Snow White Smile logo.

This is where our pumpkins live now. Mine looks like it's glowing even though there's no candle inside. Kyle says his looks like it has a skin disease.
Can't wait for it to be Halloween! We'll be in L.A. watching a Danny Elfman concert, going to Halloween Horror Nights, attending a Comikaze convention, and Disneyland!

Until next time...

Snow White Smile Plays the Starlite Lounge

OK, so it was HOT Friday. That kind of hot where it's muggy and stale and you can't feel anything but miserable. But Snow White Smile had a gig at the Starlite Lounge, so I had to brave the heat and leave the comfort of the air conditioned house for the black leather interior of my black VW Beetle that had been baking in the sun all day. You better believe I burned the heck out of my butt cheeks just by sitting down in that thing.

Kyle says leather jackets are part of his "look" so even though it was roasting outside and not much cooler inside, he wouldn't take that thing off.
Thankfully, all my friends are involved somehow or another with the band, so Snow White Smile gigs are basically an excuse for all of us to get together and have a good time. So even though it was hot, at least we were all hot together.

I also just had some tape in extensions put in, so I had a hell of time styling them. I tried barrel curls, but I ended up with just waves. I need a lot more practice! Also, it really did make me feel so much hotter - like wearing a wool hat. Note to self: in the future, wait until fall or winter to install extensions.

Left to right: Brittany (her boyfriend is not in Snow White Smile, but another way more metal band called Alterbeast), Kasi (Zach, SWS drummer, is her husband), myself, and Lyndsie (David, the singer of SWS, is her boyfriend). Also, considering all my friends are so well-endowed, my boobs look non-existent. ;-P

A much better-lit pic of Brittany and her black sclera contacts, Lyndsie, and myself

After the show was over, we headed over to Thai Canteen, which is a few blocks away from Starlite Lounge. Instead of ending the night with a belly full of booze, I ended it with a belly full of curry and Thai noodles. Yum.

You better believe I had leftovers for a day and a half with portions this large!
My outfit of the day: UNIF Hesher vest, chiffon high-low tank, Demonia boots, and spiked headband. You can also see the texture of the waves I was able to create. Doesn't look that bad, but if you consider I was going for barrel curls, it's quite an epic fail.
Until next time!

Snow White Smile at the DNA Lounge

Sunday night Kyle's band Snow White Smile played the DNA Lounge in San Francisco! I carpooled with three girlfriends (Lyndsie, Kasi, and Brittney) in a brand spanking new car, freshly purchased by Lyndsie on the Fourth of July.

It normally takes about an hour and fifteen minutes to get to San Francisco from my house, but due to some insane holiday weekend traffic, it took us approximately three hours to get there! What an ordeal. We barely made it in time to see Snow White Smile. They were starting their set as we walked in the door.

Poor Zach (drummer) - always hidden behind David

David Wright - vocals/frontman

Stephanie on guitar

Kyle on his Roland bass

Yay for fog machine! But not really - I hate those stupid things…always clouding up photos.

Kyle and David

Stephanie looking adorable
The girls and I weren't particularly interested in seeing the other bands, so we headed downstairs to DNA Pizza Lounge and got some eats. They even have vegan and gluten free options, which is amazing considering practically every one of us has different dietary requirements.

Brittney chowing down on vegan pizza, Zach watching TV, and Kasi being the only one who noticed I was taking a picture…you're awesome Kasi.
Surprisingly, we were all super unimpressed with the main act, Kuza. Although all the members look the part of dark, L.A.-based rock stars, they were pretty inexperienced and seemed to not care at all how they came across to their fans. What a shame. We didn't even stay for their whole set.

Snow White Smile enjoying (maybe?) one of the other bands playing. David looking very deep in thought and Kyle looking very unimpressed with my photography.
It was an early night as far as San Francisco evenings on the town go. We got home around midnight and everyone got to bed early enough to get to work with no issues in the morning because we are all lame, old folks.

So before I sign off, I'll close with my outfit of the day, or rather, evening. Nothing super fancy - just all black as usual.

Tunic tank - Forever 21, Lace shrug - thrifted, Boots - New Rock; Bracelets - Beneath the Roses
Until next time!

Snow White Smile at PowerHouse Pub

Snow White Smile (right to left): Kyle Vorst - bass, Zach Tole - drums (not clearly visible), David Wright - vocals, Stephanie King - guitar
Friday night Kyle's band, Snow White Smile, played at the PowerHouse Pub in Folsom. Folsom is about a half hour trek from Sacramento, so the band "wives" all carpooled together since we didn't want to be stuck at the bar for hours while the boys unloaded. But first, we got cheap sushi at Arigatos! Yum!

I had never been to PowerHouse Pub before, but it's a really neat place. It's pretty spacious with themed rooms and even an upstairs viewing area with comfy couches and jail door.

The zombie bar room complete with crazy clown heads and psychedelic colors

Main bar area with tiki birds and a giant hippo head
Two bands played before Snow White Smile, so we didn't leave until around midnight. They played for a total of around 40 minutes and there were some pretty rambunctious drunkies dancing around the stage.

David screaming away :)

Kyle's pedals and Roland bass

Zach, Kyle, David, and Stephanie drinking shots a fan bought them. Sorry for the mike in they way of your face Zach!

Tomorrow night Snow White Smile is playing with Kuza at DNA Lounge in San Francisco, so it's sure to be a fun night.

Until next time!
