Outfit of the Day - Leather Vest and Moto Jacket

Kyle and I spent last night at our friends' place drinking and playing Betrayal at the House on the Hill. The game ended in a draw, but the haunt we received to battle was nearly unbeatable anyways, so nobody winning was sorta OK.

Haven't done an outfit post in a while, so here's what I ended up wearing for the night. Nothing too fancy since our friends have four dogs that love to sit on laps and tear stockings/snag leggings, so yeah. But on a happy note - it's finally jacket season so I can break out all my fun jackets and blazers. I'm really into blazers lately, especially the ones with draped and triangular hem fronts with cropped backs.

Vest - eBay; High-low tunic - Forever 21; Spike necklace - eBay; Boots - New Rock

Studded stocking - Hot Topic. I'm a fan of mismatched stockings and socks and it's finally cold enough to layer them!
Pleather cropped moto jacket - GoJane. I love cropped jackets with a super draped back hem peeking out from underneath.
I'm busy preparing for upcoming press coverage of the Skinny Puppy and Birthday Massacre shows. Snow White Smile managed to get on the bill for the Birthday Massacre performance, so it should be a fun night! Only two weeks left for them to practice.

Until next time!

Outfit of the Day - L.A. Muscle Tank + Chiffon

Can we please have sweater weather already?? Come on Sacramento…give us some rain and gloomy, overcast skies. I'm tired of tank tops and layered pantyhose. I want to show off my massive collection of Black Milk leggings and long sleeves!

Today the weather wasn't scorching, but it was still hot enough to facilitate sleeveless tops and light-weight leg wear.

I received a parcel in the mail yesterday from G-Stage that included this L.A. skeleton hand print muscle tank. Under $10 if you can believe that? I love G-Stage! Super affordable and super cute. Not to mention they had a decent selection of black stuff, which is really what I look for in a website these days.

High-low chiffon blouse - Forever 21; L.A. muscle tank - G-Stage; Boots - New Rock

L.A. is my second home, even though I don't truly want to live there. It's a great place to visit and explore and get to know, but ultimately, all you do there is wait. Wait for opportunity, wait for traffic, wait for everything. I just can't handle spending that much time in the car in traffic, which is why I love visiting but am always glad to get out.
Until next time!

Touring a Kona Coffee Farm & Dinner at Eden's Work

We finally got our rental car replaced, so Mom and I did a bit of exploring on our own while Eden was working.

First, we checked out more of the local outdoor markets. Kona is a very tourist-friendly town, so outdoor markets are a dime a dozen. They all have a lot of the same merchandise ranging from locally picked flowers and produce to handmade jewelry and artisan herbs and foods.

Mom getting into the aloha spirit with some pretty flowers in her hair on her morning walk.

My look for the day. Mom picked some plumerias on her morning walk, so I donned one in my ear. I found out later, it was in the wrong ear. You're supposed to wear it on your left ear if you're taken and right ear if you're available, and I had no idea and wore it on the right side all the time. Sorry Kyle!

Not a stitch of makeup except for some mascara. It's so hot and humid on the island that there's no point. My eyebrows would've melted right off.
My look for the day. I bought this hooded maxi dress from Forever 21 specifically for wearing on the island, so you better believe I was going to wear it at least once.

Very fine ukeleles for sale at the market. Upwards of $200 per piece.
The flowers for sale at the market. There were so many of them it was almost overwhelming.
We found a family-owned Kona coffee farm, called Greenwell Farms, and took a mini tour of the place as well as sampled some excellent coffee.

On our way to some good coffee!
Chameleon coffee! If it wasn't so expensive, I would've bought some just because of the name. The guide also said they have three-horned Jackson's chameleons like the ones pictured on the bags in the orange tree next to the store. I would've gone chameleon hunting, but it was raining.

Mom supporting the local coffee farm. :)

It was raining so they supplied us with large umbrellas while we walked around.

One of the Kona coffee trees. The red berries are the ones that are ready to be harvested for roasting.  I also learned that Kona coffee comes from a specific stretch of land at a specific altitude, so there were lots of Kona coffee farms in the area, but I think we picked the best one to tour.

View from the retail store's patio.
I found the farm cat because I am a crazy cat lady and I can't walk by a cat without saying hi to it. Also, I was very much missing my kitties at home, so any contact with a fuzzy little being was bound to lift my spirits.
A beautiful orange hibiscus from the tour.
Look at all the coffees to sample! It's a bit like going to a boutique winery - you lose your palate after tasting a few. They also had honey and macadamia nuts from the farm that you could taste.
Eden's work was down the street from the coffee farm and it was about dinner time, so we headed to Patz Pies for some pizza. They sell it by the slice for the most part, but you can also get a whole pizza if you want. I learned that most people in Hawaii work two to three jobs and are not paid a minimum wage. Many earn only tips and it is actually out of the ordinary to have a job that pays minimum wage or better in addition to tips. So we tipped Eden well! Hahaha.

The menu at Patz Pies. Mom and I got two slices of different style veggie pizzas and shared.
Outside view of where Eden works.
Patz Pies!
Stay tuned to hear about our horseback ride in Waipio Valley.

Until next time!

E Street Salon Client Appreciation Night and Some Boozing in Downtown Davis

E Street Salon from the exterior. I love their awning. Simple black and white is always the way to go in my opinion.

Chiffon Tank - Forever 21 purchased second hand from FreeStyle Clothing Exchange (midtown Sacramento location); Harness vest - Jakimac; Boots - Demonia
Friday night Kyle's new salon hosted a Client Appreciation event with food, alcohol, and good times. I wanted to dress sort of fancy since I would be mixing with his clientele and co-workers for the evening.

I chose a sheer tunic tank with a high-low hem from Forever 21 (I can't get enough high-low hems lately!) that I got second-hand from FreeStyle Clothing Exchange in Midtown Sacramento. I love shopping there - they've got tons of cute stuff for even cheaper than retail, which is saying a lot.

I hardly wear heels (i.e. weddings only!), but I do have a pair of chunky Demonia boots that I suppose technically qualify as heels. Reserved for special occasions and times when I know I won't be on my feet all night, I felt like breaking them out.

My vest is by Jakimac and I was happy to add a bit of leather into the equation. I thought it paired well with the spikes on my boots, ring, and necklace.

Ring - Gasoline Glamour; Spike Necklace - Gasoline Glamour; Boots - Demonia; Clutch - Unbranded
My accessories are pretty self-explanatory. I just thought I'd mention that 90% of them were items I bought and wore on my wedding day. Yay for re-using accessories!

The event was super fun. I got picked up by my sister-in-law Kacy and her boyfriend Jordan and hung out with them most of the night…(thanks for the ride guys). We snacked on white wine and cheese platters.
The salon was busy with friends, family, and clients. That's Kacy and her little plate of food coming to join me at the cheese platter.

Cheese and figs! So classy!
Kacy and Jordan "playing" hairstylist and client. Also doing silly robot dancing.
Once the raffle was over and things had calmed down, we headed over to De Vere's Pub across the street from the salon for some shots called "Wet Pussies." They tasted like pink lemonade!

The evening ended on a fun note - we had a friend come visit from San Diego and we drank cocktails at Bistro 33 until like midnight.

Until next time!

Outfit of the Day - Feather Print, Off the Shoulder, and Thrifted!

Top - Thrifted/Second Hand; Tights/Bottoms - D.I.Y.; Headband - Forever 21; Boots - New Rock
For anyone who doesn't know, when I'm not busy listing my own items online to sell, I work at an adorable little consignment shop in Midtown Sacramento called French Cuff Consignment.  It's owned by a mother-daughter team and I love being part of that family atmosphere. I'm thankful that both my bosses encourage my creativity when it comes to wearing what I want and also give me quite a bit of independence. So although I only work two days a week taking care of their website and eBay listings, I pretty much love going to work because it's an occasion for me to get dressed up.

This was my outfit for today - something light and simple enough that I wouldn't end up overheating, but still cute enough that I feel it justifies documenting.

The focal point of my outfit today was a cute Xhilaration blouse (for those of you that don't know, Xhilaration is a Target brand - damn do they have some cute stuff sometimes!) with a feather print. As if buying it from Target wasn't cheap enough, I didn't even have to pay full price because I got it at the Thrift store for an astounding two dollars! I love the oversized fit because I can wear it off the shoulder and show off my razor blade and praying mantis tattoos (which I got complimented on twice today).

I was pretty rushed this morning, so I went with my usual tank dress, ripped pantyhose, and lace garter belt layered underneath my blouse coupled with my trusty New Rock Reactor boots in patent leather. I have seriously worn those boots practically every day for the last seven years of my life, so don't be surprised when you see a lot more of them.

Left Hand - spiked heart ring from Etsy and stainless steel curb chain wrap bracelet; Right Hand - Razorblade cuff from Love Culture, stainless steel razor blade ring from eBay, sterling silver curb chain ring, "Ugli" printed sterling silver band from Etsy
No outfit is complete in my world without a lot of accessories - mainly jewelry. I've got two rings that I wear every day (Tiffany wedding ring and sterling silver curb chain ring), but with six more fingers to decorate (I don't count thumbs because thumb rings just get in my way), my ring collection is really quite extensive.

My statement ring for the day was the heart spiked number from Etsy. Although I don't remember who I bought it from, I love to wear it because it's so heavy. It makes me feel like a total badass and I love it.

I've also got a thing for razor blades, which is why I have both a ring and a matching bracelet. I stumbled across the bracelet at Love Culture of all places, and it was on sale for only $2, so naturally I bought two of them.

If fashion and accessories are not your thing, I also included my kitten Lazlo…you can be sure this blog will feature my cats as often as possible and in as many random places as possible.

Thanks for reading!
