No time to set up the tripod! Just a cell phone selfie for this outfit. Tank - BlackCraft Cult; Chiffon jacket - thrifted, Headband - eBay, Boots - New Rock |
Saturday was Robin's actual birthday, and although we had already celebrated with him last weekend by heading to
San Francisco for the day, he was on his way through town with his brother and girl friend, so we went out for the evening.
We met up in a very hot Old Sacramento. It's a small area adjacent to Downtown and right on the river where the streets are wooden with cobblestones and horses pull people in carriages. It's a fun little area to visit and probably the only area of Sac I'd call touristy.
Of course, being that it was a Saturday night, we had to wait for our dinner table. In the meantime, we walked around and I got some candy from a little shop called Candy Heaven. You get all kinds of free samples which is kinda their schtick. I wound up with a pound of jellybeans - the flavors were all of my choosing! I got everything from birthday cake to Sprite. Kyle, who claims to "not like candy" got some black and grey M&M's. I'm not sure how that doesn't qualify as candy, but whatever.

Why a candy store would possess something as creepy as THIS clown is beyond me. Not only does he look creepy sitting there, he laughs and jiggles - in other words, IT'S AN ANIMATRONIC CLOWN. Terrifying! |
 |
Barrels and barrels of all kinds of candy both old-school and new. So hard to pick which kinds you want! |
 |
My pound of jellybeans! I'll be eating these in the movie theater for months. |
Dinner was at Rio City Cafe, a restaurant that sits right on the river and has the most amazing appetizers ever. My favorite is their baked cheese bread soaked in olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

There's a tardis in Old Sac!!!! |
We were planning on heading to the Trash Film Orgy at midnight and meeting up with some friends in Downtown, so we headed to Pizza Rock for some more snacks and, in my case, alcohol. Pizza Rock is across the street from the Crest Theater, where the film was playing, and it's got some really good pizza, not to mention a semi truck smashing through the wall and a rock n roll theme.

The semi is above the bar and honks loudly for people's birthdays. Luckily, Robin got a free dessert but avoided all the hubbub. |

TFO Presents "Cannibal the Musical" |
Our friends ended up not being able to come to the midnight movie, and we were all kinda beat from how hot the day had been (in the 100s!), so we called it a night after Pizza Rock. Trash Film Orgy is always fun though, so I'm sure we'll go to at least once this summer.
Until next time!
